  • Mitzie Hewitt, DO, CPI

Mitzie J. Hewitt, DO, CPI is a board certified family practitioner residing in Traverse City, Michigan and has practiced Family Medicine in Northern Rural Michigan for 25 years. She is the owner and Medical Director of Northern Pines Health Center. Dr. Hewitt earned her Bachelor’s in Science at the University of Michigan, and then attended Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical degree. She was a National Health Corp Scholar who went on to build her career within the same community that she served her scholarship obligation. Dr. Hewitt is also a certified Physician Investigator and enjoys participation in phase II-IV pharmaceutical research with her research team at Northern Pines Health Center.

Physician Assistants

Tessa Sprague, PA-C

Tessa is a nationally certified physician assistant. Tessa attended Michigan Technological University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. She also attended Central Michigan University where she obtained her Masters of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Following graduation Tessa spent the beginning of her career working in rural Georgia focusing on adult and pediatric medicine. Tessa was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI and currently resides in Traverse City. Tessa is excited to continue her practice in rural medicine!

Sydney Steger, PA-C

Sydney received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI, where she also previously received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science - Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. Sydney is a nationally certified physician assistant. Sydney was born and raised in Clarkston, MI, but currently resides in Traverse City.

Christina Peltier, FNP-C

Christina is a dedicated healthcare professional with a strong background in both palliative care and primary care. She earned her RN to BSN and MSN-FNP degrees from the University of Michigan-Flint and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Originally from Dearborn, Michigan, Christina spent twelve years in Jackson, where she obtained her associate in applied science in Nursing from Jackson College. She now resides in Traverse City, where she continues her work with a strong commitment to improving patient well-being.

Abby St. Louis, FNP-C

Abby is an healthcare professional with more than nine years of experience, primarily specializing in cardiac intensive care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Michigan University and later completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Michigan–Flint. In addition, she has served as a clinical nursing instructor at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, where she helped guide and mentor future nurses. Abby is now a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and excited to begin caring for patients at Northern Pines Health Center. Born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, she deeply values the importance and has a strong appreciation for accessible rural healthcare. Abby is dedicated to serving the community by providing high quality, compassionate care and supporting her patients to keep them healthy and thriving. Outside of work, she is an avid sports fan who enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her husband and their Golden Retriever, Breck.
